Colorado Springs St. Patrick's Day celebration will include new 50K bike ride

For years John and Carol O'Donnell and the folks at the St. Patrick's Day Committee have hosted the popular 5K on St. Patrick's Day Run in downtown Colorado Springs.

This year, they're adding a little something for cyclists.

The inaugural Pedal for St. Patrick's Day - or the Ridin' for the Green - is scheduled for March 17.

The event is still being planned, so some details may change. But the schedule looks like this:

Cyclists will start at 8 a.m. at America the Beautiful Park and pedal 50K (about 31 miles) around downtown Colorado Springs and the west side.

Riders will finish at Colorado College, but can then ride as a group in the St. Patrick's Day Parade.

The event registration page is being built. In the meantime, contact cjodonnel@qwestoffice.net for more info. Also, check http://www.csstpats.com/ for more info. Have a great ride, Colorado Springs!

Most excellent, thank you for the article Pikes Peak Sports.

The Colorado Springs Cycling Club will have their annual entry in the parade as well so bicycles will be very well represented.

There is talk of having a Kids Parade component so if you enjoy bicycling, love parades and would like to join in the pedal-powered fun, stay tuned for details!
