Mountain Equipment Recyclers celebrating 1st Anniversary on Saturday

Mountain Equipment Recyclers is throwing a party and you are invited!
Plan to swing by 1005 S. Tejon St., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday for the store's 1st Anniversary Celebration and Sale!
There will be free lunch, great discounts, live music, prizes, and more!

The music lineup is excellent with Monte Black playing at 10 a.m., followed by Joe Johnson at noon and Joe Uveges at 2 p.m.

Mountain Equipment Recyclers is a retail consignment store of high-quality outdoor equipment. A percentage of all sales goes toward nonprofit organizations that support military personnel and their families. The store raised $11,941 for its nonprofit partners in 2011 and hopes to increase its contributions to $25,000 in 2012.

Outdoor enthusiasts will find a variety of gear, form tents to bicycles to skis, sleeping bags and fishing equipment.

The store's business model is inspired by passion for the outdoors combined with compassion for military families dealing with PTSD, TBI and other injuries.

Founded on the premise of supporting the local community in a sustainable way, promoting the protection of the environment, and a “giving back” attitude, M.E.R. is committed to helping local soldiers and their families.

Fifty percent of the sale of donated gear is given directly to non-profit organizations assisting local military families. Five percent of consigned gear is given to the same causes.
