Former Doherty High School runner Adam Goucher making strides online

Recently Adam Goucher and close friend Tim Catalano have started a stellar
running blog/talk show entitled, "RunTheEdge." As stated on the site,
"Run The Edge is dedicated to High School Distance Runners and any
Distance Runner who has ever been to High School." Let's reflect
together, briefly, on the outstanding career of America's greatest cross
country runner Adam Goucher.
In
every sport their stand icons who redefine greatness and set standards
of excellence for all who seek to follow in their footsteps. Prep cross
country legends, they are the Kings of Cross. This story is about one
legend who redefined what it meant to be a cross country runner, he is
our first King of Cross Adam Goucher.
In
1991, a sophomore from Colorado Springs, Colorado burst onto the prep
scene with a stunning 15:27.2 victory over 5000 meters at the Colorado
State Championships. At the Foot Locker National Championships he would
finish 13th (15:41.9). Adam Goucher had found his sport. After an
undefeated junior season, multiple course records, including the State
Meet record over 5000 meters of 15:03.0. Goucher would finish 9th at the
Midwest Regionals qualifying for nationals where he would finish 15th.
