As the 2nd leg of the Triple Crown of Running, the race takes place on the trails of Bear Creek Park and High Drive on the west side of Colorado Springs. The trials are well-groomed dirt trails with plenty of spectacular scenery. The out-and-back course is mostly uphill on the way out. Starting elevation is about 6,120 feet. The highest point is at 7,165 feet for almost a 1,00 foot elevation gain in 3.7 miles (at the turn around point). This makes a perfect training run for those participating in the the Pikes peak Ascen or the Pikes Peak Marathon.
