You may have heard about the Great Pumpkin Run at Venetucci Farm sponsored by the Pikes Peak Community Foundation. But, we own another property called Aspen Valley Ranch in Woodland Park and we would like to invite you to participate in an inaugural “trial” fun run at the ranch on Saturday, September 24th.
Like the Pumpkin Run, the course will be entirely on dirt roads and trails. Unlike the Pumpkin Run, it is an extremely challenging course starting at 8500 ft above sea level with a vertical gain of more than 1100 feet. The run is approximately 5.5 miles. It will be wheeled between now and the race.We are calling this a “trial” run as we are looking for feedback on the course. It is an old fashioned “Fun Run” to simply get a good workout and be with others who enjoy running. In lieu of awards we will be giving each participant a wooden aspen leaf as a memento of this first time event. Timing will not be high tech but we will post names and times for those who participate. For those who want to stop at one of the high points for a photo opportunity there is a beautiful Paul Hathaway sculpture called the “Ecstasy Statue” at about 9600 ft. I think you will find this a great workout and an experience not to be missed.
