About 150 runners took advantage of a beautiful springtime day and the inviting trails at Cheyenne Mountain State Park to compete in the first XTERRA Cheyenne Mountain State Park12/24.
Marshall Thomson of Crested Butte rocked the field in the men's 24K, charging to the win in 1:27:27. Tommy Manning (Colorado Running Company/Power Bar) finished second in 1:32:13, Greg Friedman was third in 1:34:59.
Ben Klungtvedt of Colorado Springs reeled in Kevin Morgan in the last mile to win the men's 12K. Klungtvedt clocked 44:59 with Morgan kicking home at 45:19. Gerald Romero was third in 45:32.
In the women's races Amy Friendman won the 24K, followed by Ellie Keyser (Fort Collins, 1:44:14) and Kim Baugh (Colorado Springs, 1:53:15). Lindsay Hyman of Colorado Springs won the 12K in 56:01), followed by Sarah Blackwell (59:48) and Jan Rastall (Fort Collins, 1:02:14.)
