It was a tough day for the cyclists in the US Cup Pro Series mountain bike races at Pulpit Rock Open Space. The course included a vicious climb that forced riders to dismount and push or carry their bikes. We caught eventual men's race winner Todd Wells and others in the lead group hustling through the pain cave. Geoff Kabush (Courtney, British Columbia) finished second, and won the overall series. Rafael Gagne of Quebec was third, followed by Max Plaxton, Victoria, British Columbia, and Russell Finsterwald of Colorado Springs.
