The XTERRA Marathon and Half Marathon field began its singletrack adventure in a bright October sun on Sunday in Cheyenne Mountain State Park. Jared Hazen, 19, of Colorado Springs, took the win with a time of 3 hours, 26 minutes and 4 seconds.
William Mitchell won the half marathon in 1:38:14, while Sarah Gigliotti ran a 1:47:10 to capture the win in the women's race.
K.K. Paul of Colorado Springs beat the men to capture the overall title in the 5K. She clocked 24:04 on a challenging course. Patrick Vigil was second, about 24 seconds off the winning pace.
