Video of the start of the Winter Series III short-course (5-mile) race on Saturday, Feb. 13 on the Santa Fe Trail near Monument, Colo. Maxamilliano Martinez, 17, of Colorado Springs, caught and passed Robby Young (30, Colorado Springs) in the final meters of the race to take the win. Martinez set an age-group (15-19) record of 27:13. Alex Libin (25, Colorado Springs) was third in 27:36.
Erin Jones captured the win in the women's race, setting an age-group (20-24) record of 32:36. Crystal Goecker (37, Colorado Springs) also grabbed an age-group (35-39) record of 32:58 to finish second. She was followed by Raquel Valadez (23, Colorado Springs) in 34:37.
