Start of the Run to the Shrine 5K

A good look at the field in the Run to the Shrine 5K, Saturday at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.
There were about 1,000 runners in the the 5K and 10K races. The 5K runners started at the zoo entrance and ran to the Will Rogers Shrine, gaining 1,000 feet along the way. From there, the course turned back and finished about a half mle above the zoo.
Carl Arnold won the men's race with a time of 21:59. Kevin Morgan (22:56) and Michael Hagen (22:34) finished second and third.
In the women's race, Eva Hagen clocked 26:07 for the win, with Louse Krel (27:20) in second and Marzena Matecki placing third.
