Nearly 500 runners took on the gritty Run to the Shrine 10K on Saturday. The runners started at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs and ran to the Will Rogers Shrine. The course gains 1,400 feet in the first five miles, then descends to the finish line at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.
Tommy Manning, a two-time member of the U.S. Mountain Running Team, took the win in 38 minutes, 40.5 seconds. Pete Maksimow, who win the race in 2011, finished second in 39:22.4, while 40-year-old Gerald Romero finished third in 42:38.1.
In the women's race, Kelli Lusk of Colorado Springs, took the win in 49:06.9, with Meghan Cogswell (52:35.7) and Connie Shaner (53:02.1) claiming second and third places respectively.
