Caught the start of the inaugural Colorado Springs Half Marathon today (Sept. 28, 2014). Jacob Chemtai and NelsonOyugi, Kenyan-born runner who reside in Santa Fe, N.M., finished shoulder to shoulder on sunny Tejon Street. Chemtai was credited with the win, clocking 1:05:23 (gun time), with Oyugi .01 seconds off the pace. Sarah Kiptoo of Santa Fe won the women's race in 1:16;42. She took an early lead and was not challenged on a course that criss-crossed central Colorado Springs. Mattie Suver of Colorado Springs was second in 1:22:58.
