The brave souls in the Blue Moon Trail Run, chugged up a tough hill to start the race on Friday at Ute Valley Park. There were actually two races, a 5K and a 10K.
Elizabeth Watkins, 31, of Colorado Springs, was the big winner of the night. Watkins, who runs for the Colorado Running Company, finished second overall in the 10K and set a new course record with a time of 40 minutes, 38 seconds. She was only 46 seconds behind Andrew Jarvis, 25, Colorado Springs, who won the men's race with a 39:52.
Adam Rich (33, Colorado Springs) charged to the win in the 5K, covering the technical singletrack course in 17:11. And 13-year-old Paige Embaugh won the women's 5K in 23:41.
