Adam Rich, 34, of Colorado Springs got 2016 off to a fast start, as he sprinted to victory in the Rescue Run 5K on New Year's Day at Palmer Park. Rich finished in 17 minutes, 14 seconds to set a new age-group record. Brent Bailey, (29, Salinas, Kan., 17:43) placed second, followed by Simon Gutierrez (49, Colorado Springs) in 18:08.
Amanda Ewing (34, Colorado Springs) won the women's race in 20:41, followed by SHelbie Johnson (29, Colorado Springs, 22:22) and Mary Baldwin (24, Colorado Springs, 22:34.)
