Alex Nichols took the win, but first had to climb 7,800 feet over 13.32 miles to tag the summit of Pikes Peak. He and Galen Burrell worked together in the thin air above timberline to stay within striking distance of Azerya Weldmeriam who had opened up a three-minute lead at the summit.
