Last weekend's Salida Run Through Time Marathon marks my first year of longer trail races. Within this year I ran my first 50 miler, ran a gruesome 50 k, and trained a lot of mileage (last year). I was excited for the marathon this year, since I felt these experiences would help me improve my time from my first Salida. Nope, some extra trail experience will not make up for lack of training. I finished over 20 minutes slower than last year.
I still really enjoyed Salida this year. My husband ran the entire race with me, this was a first and actually was pretty fun. Thanks Josh! I felt that my effort level in the race was more consistent this year. The weather was nice and I had a lot of fun with our friends in the city. Only a two things went wrong. My stomach was a wreck the entire race and lack of training for this distance. I'm still early in my training and have not done a trail run over 3 hours. Last year I had at least one long trail run before Salida.
Thanks Boulder Running Company and Brooks for the new race team outfit. The jacket was perfect for the chilly March mountain weather.
I'll be back another year!

Otherwise known as first cheater.
She did not beat me. I won the "honest" division.
Shouldn't have eaten that spicy polish sausage right before the gun went off
You forgot to mention that you beat JT!
