CALL FOR ARTISTS
7th ANNUAL ROLL BIKE EXHIBITION

The Business of Art Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, is hosting a juried national exhibition of artwork for the 7th ANNUAL ROLL BIKE EXHIBITION, an exhibition of artwork in all mediums and concerning any themes around bikes and bike life.  This year’s theme is "Lucky #7."
Exhibition dates:  Aug. 19 – Oct. 2, 2011. 

Opening Reception:  Friday, Aug. 26, 5 - 9 PM.
 
This exhibit will explore themes surrounding the visual appeal of the bicycle, its mechanical simplicity, the rotation of the wheel, the bicycle's role in social intimacy, the evolution of bicycle form, personal expressions of the ride, association of the bicycle with the women's movement, the risks of the road, fitness and health, decorative value, and the role of the bicycle in building community.  Bicycle Collectibles including historic or custom bikes are also welcome.

OPEN TO ALL MEDIUMS.
 
ENTRY FEE:
There is a $30 entry fee for 1-3 images. If you wish to include more than 3, please include $5.00 for each additional image.  Please make check or money order payable to The Business of Art Center. Artists who wish to pay by credit card may do so over the phone during our regular business hours.

ELIGIBILITY:
Lucky #7 is open to all artists, national and international, working in any media. All forms of art are eligible. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older to apply.

Exhibit opens: August 19, 2011:

Closes: October 2, 2011
Deadline for picking up art: October 16, 2011. Artwork left after the pickup date will not be insured. Work not retrieved within two weeks of pickup date will become property of the Business of Art Center.


FORMAT FOR SUBMISSION
Artwork submitted may be represented by prints or digital images.
Prints: Prints may be up to 8.5" x 11" and may be digitally produced or photographic prints. Artist name, title, size, media and price should be on back of the print.
Digital files: Digital image files may be submitted in CD, DVD, flash drives or via email. Images should be readable on Mac platform and jpg is preferred, no larger than 5MB. Reference sheets with artist's name, title of piece, media and dimensions are appreciated to assist the jurors.

PLEASE INCLUDE:
Title of each piece,  titled to correspond with visual image, media, dimensions, and retail price.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBMISSION:
•  Work must be current (not more than 2 years old.)
•  Work must be original. No prints or copies.
• Artwork must not have been shown at the BAC previously.
•  No clip frames or taped edges accepted. Mats must be well cut and clean. Frames must be in good condition and equipped with wire (no saw-tooth hangers.) Glass must be clean and intact.
•  Artist is responsible for shipping to and from the exhibition.
•  The Business of Art Center will retain a 40% commission from sales.  Be sure to mark your prices up accordingly to cover your expenses!
•  Work cannot be withdrawn before end of show period.
