Cycling: Colorado Road Race Championships at USAFA - Volunteers Needed!

All,

On 12 August 2018, COS Racing is hosting the Darkblade Systems Thunderbird Road Race - Colorado's annual State (Cycling) Road Race Championship - at the US Air Force Academy - sponsored by Darkblade Systems. This is the second time our great city has had the privilege of hosting the State Championships.  This year, we expect more than 400 riders to compete in this US Cycling-sanctioned event, to include a sizeable men's and women's professional field and a large number of the region's best Junior riders. To support this event, we encourage all to compete, volunteer, and/or spectate during this championship event.

The course will take place on a challenging hilly circuit around the northern end of the Academy on a spectator-friendly course with multiple great vantage points from which to watch the action. Pros, Seniors, Masters, and Juniors (13 and Over) will race on an 8.8-mile circuit around the cadet area with different groups competing at various times and distances.  Younger Juniors will compete on a shorter 3.3-mile route near the start/finish area. The race venue offers ample parking for racers and is open for spectators.

We are also still looking for a few more volunteers to perform such duties as course marshals, lead- and chase-car drivers, feed station attendants, and to assist in set-up/tear-down.  This is a great opportunity to support competition in our backyard while simultaneously having a great seat for some fantastic amateur and professional racing on a very challenging course.

If you are either interested in racing or spectating or would like to volunteer, please see the links below:
