1.  1/1/17-- RESCUE RUN 10K- Palmer Park--

* 7th overall-- 2nd place- 45-49 award-- 39:13 chip time.

* Sunny, windy rolling hill road and hard packed trail course.

Note:  I was the first person in the 10k to run the true CORRECT course--   at the split in the trail on top of the first mesa, your supposed to go right, I went right on the correct course-- the others went left and did the loop backwards.  It was all the same distance except to note that there is more uphill climbing on the correct loop going counterclockwise.    I lost time in the race as I had stopped at the fork in the trail yelling at the guys to tell them they turned wrong.

2-4 --  WALT DISNEY WORLD MARATHON WEEKEND---- FLORIDA--

2. 1/5/17--Thursday--   WALT DISNEY WORLD 5K-- easy jog- 30 minutes.

3.  1/6/17-- Friday--  WALT DISNEY WORLD 10K--

* 36:22-- 10th overall-- 1st place 45-49- First Master Overall.

* This was my best performance of the weekend in a huge competitive 10k with 11,000 + racers-- mostly a flat road and concrete course through epcot with a few gentle inclines over walk way bridges-- but a very humid early morning and the course has a lot of turns.

*  THE WALT DISNEY WORLD HALF MARATHON ON SATURDAY WAS CANCELLED DUE TO A SEVERE LIGHTNING STORM - disappointing because this was the race I had prepared for and would have kicked ass in.    I expected a for sure win in the 45-49.

4.  Sunday-- 1/8/17-- WALT DISNEY WORLD MARATHON--

* 3:13:56-- Gender- 115th overall-- overall-- 133rd-- 13th place in the 45-49.

* Cold and humid morning-- very windy-- I had a very good race until about mile 15-- legs hit the wall.  I was in 23rd overall at the half marathon point.

This is my Master overall championship I have brought back to you Colorado !!! -- I have dominated the Master's division  at all Disney races in California (10k and half), and in Florida--  Wine & Dine 10k and half, and The Dopey Challenge--  I have taken all comers on there and I have destroyed them all !!!!!

*Out and back course from Downtown Co Spgs along Santa Fe Trail-- gentle rolling uphill course North and back the same way with a gentle rolling downhill back to the finish at bijou bridge.

*  I felt a little sluggish and tired out on the course-   I have backed off mileage a bit in the last few weeks with a new build up cycle and a Craig Young lactate once a week.  Still  improved by 2:52 from last year.   I got out hard- held on for a while, got passed by a few jabronees but then held steady and got a couple of the Air Force Academy Marathon Team toward the end passing one in the last 400.    Will start my patented old school strength and uphill training.

6th overall --  1:23:48-- 2nd Master overall--  I took it out strong and hard and gave a great effort most of the way-- a little fatigue toward the end of the race with a lot of concrete path.   I took out Heather Utrata.  I gave Dan Clark (1st master, 4th overall) a hell of a heated battle in the first half of the race and he just nipped me out under a minute in the end.

*  Starting at the Pueblo Reservoir-- Course followed a rolling concrete path down to the river trail with a point to point course finishing up at the Pueblo River Walk-- the course was all concrete and I felt it a little on my legs toward the end of the race.

14.  Sunday- 3/5/17-- THAT DAM HALF MARATHON-  Cherry Creek Dam Road, Greenwood Village, Denver.

* 1st place 40-49-- 14th overall-- 6:28 pace-- 1:24:42.     I won the gold beaver medal and $20 bucks to Dick's

Out and back-- Starting on cherry creek dam- a flat windy first 3 miles out and then a gradual downhill down to the golf course with rolling hills on an all concrete path -- turnaround and come back on the rolling hill concrete pathway and gradually climbing back up to the dam with one very steep hill at mile 9 with a very windy 3 miles back to the finish line.   I felt stronger and I felt a strong jump in my endurance-- I was able to stay strong in the final miles catching a few jabronees including two of the Air Force Academy Marathon Team members, I caught them on the uphills coming back up to the dam.    The Denver competitors are no match for my superior climbing ability.

15. Saturday-3/11/17-- 5k on St. Patricks Day-- Downtown Co Spgs--

* 2nd place podium finish -45-49-- 18:46 chip time--6:03 pace--  37th male overall-- 40th overall.

* The course was slightly changed from previous years but still an all road 5k downtown with (3)- 180 degree turns, very windy, sunny, and great competition as always.  Basically a flat course all in all with just a very slight uphill grade going north on the streets.   Did ok with almost no speed work started yet, except for weekend racing, a weekly Craig Young lactate executed perfectly,  and mostly slow uphill strength work, weekly mileage still actually pretty low.  I am hovering around 30 miles a week average.

Everything I am doing now in training is old school, perfectly executed Craig Young quality training !!!  You have not seen anything yet jabronees !!!!!!!

21.  April 23, 2017-- HORSETOOTH HALF MARATHON-- FORT COLLINS, CO--

* There were 3 big races going on locally on the front range this past weekend-- Cherry Creek Sneak, Three Creeks Half Marathon in Denver, and Horsetooth Half Marathon in Fort Collins--     The two money races were Horsetooth and Three Creeks --  The big money race was Horsetooth -- all three races had good competition--  but Horsetooth was pound for pound the most competitive race on the most challenging course.

I gave a great performance in a very competitive field--  duking it out with the top Master's taking 4th Master overall-- duking it out with the top 3 women-- and finishing with a 1st place 45-49 podium age group win and a gift card to a running store in Fort Collins.   There was not the deep competitive field in the other races going on this weekend-- I went up against the top performers in my race.

* I swept the weekend with two podium wins--   got 4th overall in a tough hot 5 mile in the Garden of the Gods and won the Master's championship in the Colorado Marathon in Fort Collins and rounded off the top 10 the next day-- my times are improving- I get better and better-- I win more and more--  I kick more and more jabronees asses  !!!        nothing but podiums, money, and prizes !!!!!!!!!                   TBE   !!!

24.  Sunday- May 14th, 2017--   SPARTAN ELITE SPRINT -- 5 MILE-- 23 OBSTACLES-- FORT CARSON, CO

* This was my first Spartan Race ever -- I qualified and entered the elite race as I knew my conditioning and agility was just as good and better than anyone else there--  my lack of preparation and training for the actual specific technical obstacles was my only struggle in the race and caused me to fall behind when I had to do burpees.     Of course I raced to win as there was prize money involved and to qualify for the championships, but despite everything I also had fun and got to experience a different type of race to throw my hat in.

 in essence I finished in the tail end of the best ---  I can do it all-- im good on the road-- Im tough on the trails-- I kick ass on the climbs-- I have a legacy on Pikes Peak --- I was a little out of my usual element----  I kicked ass on the running of the very technical and steep hilly course--    I did great on the wall climbs, crawling under the barbed wire, I killed the rope climb perfectly, I killed the stone carry, the water obstacle was just fucking cold, conquered the cargo net--   my downfall was getting across on the monkey bar type obstacles as I kept falling off those ones and had to do 4 sets of burpees on those-- I hit the hay target on the spear throw but my spear did not stick so there was 30 more burpees !!!!     My grand total of burbees----   150 !!!!!!!      just could not recover time after those--- but I was the only one kicking ass running uphill on the final brutal hill.

Right now plan on putting the Breckenridge Spartan sprint on my calendar for August the week after pikes peak weekend !!!!!

* 2nd overall award-- 25:45--

I took out in the lead hard -- 1st place caught me after the first 800-- I stayed right on him and slowly gained on him as he was slowing down-- I almost caught him on the top -- he was scared and kept looking back on the way back down-- he edged me out by 45 seconds.

26.  Sunday- May 21, 2017--  COLFAX HALF MARATHON--  Denver, CO--     2nd overall Master Title !!!!      1:24:22--   20th overall-- 19th male overall.

* Another big competitive Denver Half Marathon Race !!!!   The place to be this weekend if you want to see what you are made of !!!!    Colfax half course is a little tougher with a few miles twisting and turning in the Denver City Park and Denver Zoo and then traveling out and on a gradual uphill out East where we eventually catch Colfax and gently head back down to City Park-- very hot and sunny.

* I picked it up in the 2nd half after battling with the top the women for 3 miles.   I broke a few more people on the way and caught the 2nd place female at mile 11.    I remained tough and I broke her down and passed her ----   two guys caught me in the last 800 meters---   they passed me--- but on the last final stretch in I gave an electrifying kick in and re-passed the guys trying to take me out and almost got one more---- it was one of those moments that should have been on the top ten best sports highlights section  !!!!!!!!!!
