It seems as if life at altitude is a good training ground for one of the toughest athletic events in the world.
Six triathletes from Colorado Springs completed the 2010 Ironman World Championship on Saturday. The Ironman includes a 2.4-mile swim followed by a 112-mile bike leg. The event then finishes with a marathon (26.2-mile) run. Their results are as follows:
Men's Pro Division: Michael Weiss, (above) age 29, placed 13th overall, and 13th among 68 pro men in the division. Times: Swim 57:40, Bike 4:25:21, Run 3:00:34. Total time: 8:29:15.
Men's Pro Division: Andy Potts, (right) age 34, placed 21st overall, and 21st among 68 pro men in the division. Times: Swim 48:48, Bike 4:42:20, Run 3:03:03. Total time: 8:38:43.
Men's 35-39: Scott Poteet, age 37, placed 38th in age group of 247, and 225th overall: Times: Swim 1:06:12, Bike 5:09:42, Run 3:18:19. Total time: 9:39:05
Men's 35-39: Eric Reid, age 38, placed 56th in age group of 247, and 286th overall. Times: Swim 1:04:19, Bike 5:10:02, Run 3:25:45. Total Time: 9:45:58.
Men's 40-44: Neal Oseland, age 41, placed 43rd in age group of 265, and 325th overall. Times: Swim 1:13:12, Bike 5:12:39, Run 3:17:55. Total time: 9:49:42.
Men's 60-64: Rob Ladewig, age 62, placed 25th in age group of 51, and 1,485th overall. Time: Swim 1:35:09, Bike 6:23:52, Run 4:44:48. Total time: 12:55:11.
