Colorado Springs triathlete wins age-group, amateur titles at Ironman World Championship 70.3

Trismarter Triathlon Coaching & Nutrition is proud to announce that sponsored triathlete Danielle Kehoe is the 2012 Ironman 70.3 World Champion. Kehoe, age 25, based in Colorado Springs, CO, competed amongst more than 2100 athletes who had all qualified to race the world championship at the half-ironman triathlon distance. Kehoe qualified at the Ironman Boulder 70.3 event in August.

Kehoe competed in the Female 25-29 Age Group Division, which had 66 starting triathletes. Danielle posted an overall time of 4:44:53, including a 31:58 swim split, 2:33:37 bike split (her bike split was 5th fastest for all females, including pro athletes), and a 1:34:45 run split. Her finishing time made her 15th fastest female overall (including a women’s professional field of 32) and the fastest overall amateur female. Kehoe’s bike split was the 6th fastest overall as well.

“I am thrilled to have been a part of this race, and truly blessed to have performed so well.” said Kehoe. “We’ve worked very hard this year, and my results show. I could not be happier!”

As the day progressed, Kehoe found herself leading the 25-29 Age-group women within the first few miles of the run. Once out front, she never looked back. Her closest competitor was over seven minutes behind her by the time she crossed the finish line.

“Coming into this race, we knew Danielle was on track to perform well,” said Trismarter Coach Lee Gardner. “Proving it in a race is the ultimate test, and the results speak for themselves. ”

Next up for Kehoe is the Ironman World Championships in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii on October 13, 2012. She will be making final preparation for Kona between now and the race.
