Public invited to review proposed Manitou Incline Management Plan

Event: Public meeting on the Incline
Date: Thursday, Oct 21, 2010
Time: 7pm
Location: Manitou Springs City Hall

The Incline Committee met on October 7th to go over the "Manitou Incline Site Development and Management Plan" produced by Tapis Associates.
After multiple sessions with our committee, four public meetings, many interviews, and ground work they produced a comprehensive and detailed analysis of where we are and what are the next steps that should be taken to open the Incline.
I was impressed. They addressed new trail building from the top of the Incline over to the Pipeline Trail as well as proposals to close the "social trail" from the top of the Incline to the Barr trail redirecting traffic up to the official trail over to the Barr Trail.
Also proposed is closing the social trail from the Barr Trail Parking lot over to the Incline and funneling all traffic on the Incline over to the Cog Parking Lot in a staging area with rest room and 8-10 parking spaces from the Cog (the Cog would be recompensed with the parking spaces on the street across from the terminal.) This is just a flavor of the proposals and ideas that came out of this study.
There will be another public meeting at City Hall on October 21st. I hope there will be a massive turnout from the Incline Club and the running community.
