This year's event was a joint effort between the U.S. Olympic Committee and the Department of Defense, and is supported by Deloitte, USO, BP, Fisher House Foundation, Bob Woodruff Foundation and Anheuser-Busch.

"This show is an opportunity for the USOC and its partners to share the spirit and impact of the Warrior Games with all Americans," said USOC Chief of Paralympics Charlie Huebner. "The event emphasizes the importance of physical activity for all persons with physical disabilities."

VERSUS' one-hour special introduces viewers to several competing athletes and gives an inside look at how sport is changing the lives of these courageous men and women. VERSUS will also re-air the program Tuesday, June 21, at 5 p.m. ET.

This event is one component of the overall USOC Paralympic Military Program, which is focused on providing daily physical activity as an important part of rehabilitation at the community and installation levels. The program isn't about elite performance, rather assisting service members with a physical disability to find enjoyment in activities that are an instrumental part of the rehabilitation process.

Through the program, in collaboration with the Department of Defense, physical activity and sports participation rates at Warrior Transition Units, Wounded Warrior Battalions/Detachments and other Wounded Warrior programs throughout the U.S. have increased by 23 percent in the past two years.
