If you dig trail running and long distances, then get ready for the inaugural Cheyenne Mountain 25K and 50K Trail races at Cheyenne Mountain State Park.

Runners will tangle with a 25K loop (50K runners do it twice) beginning at 8 a.m., April 23. The race is being organized by Epic Endurance Events.

Click here to register. Online registration closes on April 21.

Veterans of the Xterra Marathon and Half Marathon and the Pikes Peak Road Runners Winter Series will be familiar with the trails, including Talon, famous for it's climb to the highest point in the park. See the map below.

This from the race organizer's website:

"This scenic 25K loop course begins on a wide open trail which winds its way along the base and part way up Cheyenne Mountain. Runners will traverse several different types of trails-small bouldering, twisty, sloping, densely wooded, and wide open prairie-all well marked to keep you on course! Aid stations will be fully loaded and placed to keep you running strong throughout your race."
