The American Trail Running Association (ATRA), welcomes Peter Maksimow at the newest member of the ATRA team. In his role as Outreach and Partnership Specialist, Maksimow will create opportunities and develop relationships with races, clubs, and corporations and will work on special projects and programs to help grow and expand the association’s reach nationally and internationally.
Maksimow, 37, hails from Manitou Springs, CO, a tiny hamlet nestled in the shadow of Pikes Peak and home to premier trails on the Rocky Mountain Front Range. He earned his BA in Physical Education & Recreation with honors from Whittier College (CA), and his MS in Athletic Administration from Springfield College (MA), and brings extensive trail running knowledge to ATRA, as both competitor and administrator.
Involved in his local running community as director of the Barr Trail Mountain Race, coach of the Kokopelli Kids Youth Racing Team and organizer of Team Colorado, Maksimow has also traveled the world seeking trail and mountain running adventures. In 2015, he was a scoring member on the silver-medal winning Team USA at the WMRA Long Distance Mountain World Championships in Zermatt, Switzerland.
“Peter brings youthful enthusiasm and creativity to our team,” said ATRA’s executive director Nancy Hobbs. “His experience and commitment to our sport make him a fantastic addition to ATRA.”
Maksimow officially starts his role with ATRA on February 1, when he joins fellow team members Hobbs, and online marketing director Richard Bolt.
