Add another big race to the Colorado Springs calendar. Epic Relays, which had planned to start the Epic Rocky Mountain Relay in Woodland Park next summer, has changed the plan.
The 203.3-mile race will begin July 22 at Pinon Valley High School in southwest Colorado Springs, and end in Crested Butte on July 23.
The route has changed as well, and could be more challenging in the hot summer sun. Runners will travel south on Hwy. 115 to Hwy. 50, then west to Canon City, through Salida and over 11,312-foot Monarch Pass to Gunnison. From there, the final big push heads north to the finish at Crested Butte.
Scroll to the bottom of the page for a link to the course map. Total mileage is 203.3. Epic Relays is allowing for as many as 50 teams of 12 runners. There are 36 legs in the relay. The breakdown is as follows.
