Runner's Roost owner Gary Staines, right, Classic 10K winner Augustus Maiyo (center) and George Towett, who placed fifth, talk it over. Staines coaches runners in the Army's World Class Athlete program. Maiyo, who set a new record in the Sailin' Shoes 5K last month, hopes to run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Tera Moody loped along the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail on Saturday in the Grand Prix of Running Classic 10K.
Her long and fluid stride didn't reveal the secret she kept. Moody was in pain.
"I was on a great pace for four or five miles, but you can't fake your way through a 10K, so I kind of died big time in the last mile and a half," she said.
It hurt, but she'll take it. Moody won with a time of 33 minutes, 57.61 seconds. Not bad considering she had bunion surgery and planter plate reconstruction four months ago and is not in top form. But she is close. Her time was only 10 seconds off that of last year. She says she is ready for the Marathon World Championships, Aug. 27 in Daegu, Korea.
"After taking four months off, I guess I can't complain too much," she said. "Today was just to get a little taste of hurt and I definitely got that."
Moody said she plans to run in the Top Ten 10-mile race Aug. 6 in Colorado Springs. After the world championships, she'll focus on the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, Jan. 14 in Houston.
Boulder's Colleen De Reuck, 47, placed second in 34:21:62., followed by Adrian Chouinard, 28, of Manitou Springs in 36:44:10.
In the men's race, Runner's Roost athlete Augustus Maiyo of Colorado Springs won with a time of 30:00.78. Josh Eberly (Gunnison) placed second in 30:19.91, and Charles Hillig (Denver) was third in 30:30:45.
Maiyo is on a hot streak. He set a new record (14:47) in the Sailin' Shoes 5K last month.

He hopes to run in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
"It was a good race for me today," he said. "I'm happy with it. Training is going well."
The Classic 10K is the fourth of six races in the Grand Prix of Running, one of the most popular race series in Colorado.
The next race is theTop Ten, followed by the Great Pumpkin Race on Oct. 1.
