Riders flew along the singletrack in the 2010 Rocky Mountain States Games Falcon Trail 100. The race is scheduled for Sunday - it will be the only race at the Air Force Academy this year - but organizers need riders to register by Wednesday.

"The Mountain Biking competition scheduled for the Rocky Mountain State Games on Sunday, July 24 at the United States Air Force Academy has been cancelled. As of 5:00 today, 29 athletes had registered, with a goal of 50 riders as a required minimum. Full refunds will be issued to all 29 entries by the Sports Corp within 24 hours. “We are sorry to have to cancel the event,” said State Games Director Doug Martin, and we will do all we can to bring it back next summer at the State Games.”

Contrary to recent reports, there will be a mountain bike race at the Air Force Academy this year, but only if enough riders register.

The Colorado State Games Falcon 100 is scheduled for this Sunday (July 24), but race organizers say they need at least 50 riders to sign up by Wednesday (July 20).

The race is part of the 2011 Rocky Mountain State Games.

In an e-mail to the riders who raced last year, Doug Martin of the host Colorado Springs Sports Corp said: "The Falcon Trail is currently closed to the public and this is the only mountain bike race scheduled on the Falcon Trail at USAFA this year.  We really, really want to see this race happen so please share this with anyone that may be interested and let’s try to hit the 50 participant mark."

There are shorter distances available. Registration costs run from $20 for kids to $50 for adults. Due to security concerns, there will be no walk-up registration on race day.
