Tier One Productions is announcing a new mountain bike race for Colorado Springs. In association with The Sports Corp, Tier One Productions is creating an unprecedented 100k mountain bike race for the Pikes Peak region. The "COS MTB 100" will be elevating from the west side of Colorado Springs on September 10th, 2011. Details, maps, registration ($75), and more information will be available by May 1.
The general course has been approved by Pike National Forest Service. If the full course is approved, it will rise to 12,000 feet, cresting on the shoulder of mighty Pikes Peak. This out and back course will give endurance cyclists an opportunity to experience a "Leadville MTB 100" type of race, but with less hype and crowds.
Our region hosts several excellent endurance races for mountain bikers, such as the Bailey Hundo, the Falcon 100, and now the COS MTB 100. Building on the success of 24-Hours of Colorado Springs, it seems like a natural addition to create another world-class event for the area. In our city we have some of the most talented, enthusiastic, and accomplished riders in North America, so why not give everyone another chance to race close to home.
