The dream season continues for pro mountain bike racer Cam Chambers, who won again on Saturday.
Chambers charged to the front of the pack in the Alpine Odyssey 100K in Crested Butte and held on to win, setting a new course record of 3 hours, 59 minutes, 3 seconds.

He beat a tough group of riders, including Lance Armstrong.

Following the race, Chambers posted to his Facebook page: "Huge win today at Alpine Odyssey. The atmosphere was electric with Lance on the start line. I set a new course record and went under 4 hours. Great day!"

Greg Krause finished second, about 2:30 off the winning pace. John Gaston followed in 4:07, Brian Smith was fourth in 4:09:19. Armstrong placed fifth in 4:09:27.

Chambers has been unbeatable in 2012. He captured the USA Cycling Singlespeed Cross Country Championship earlier this summer. And he posted wins in The Growler,  the Breckenridge 100, The Breck Fall Classic, the Dakota 50, plus series wins in the Rocky Mountain Endurance Series (he won all four races he entered), and the Ascent Cycling Series.

With the Alpine Odyssey win, Chambers qualified for the 2013 Leadville Trail 100, widely known as one of the toughest mountain bike races in the U.S.

His next big challenge will happen on his home court. Chambers will race for another national title in the 24 Hours of Colorado Springs, Sept 29-30 in Palmer Park.

Though he is widely known for riding a singlespeed, he has vowed to roll out the gears for 24 Hour nats and try for the men's solo title.

In the women's race, Manitou Springs native Amy Beisel took the won. Beisel, who currently lives in Gunnison, knocked off the 100K in 4:52:51.
