If you love Palmer Park and want to help keep it beautiful, then plan to join the Guardians of Palmer Park at 8 a.m. Saturday (May 7th).
We will be gathering to help Palmer Park in the parking lot by Maizeland and Academy, near the baseball fields. We work until noon and then usually we go out to lunch at Taste of Philly. Our next work day is the third Saturday in May, May 21st. (We usually work the first and third Saturday of each month).
If you need to come later than 8:00 we understand, and we can still hook you up with a job and help you join a crew.
We will be doing a variety of activities: dog poop scooping, vandalism repair (spray paint), trash pick up, and trail rehabilitation.
For our Saturday Workday, everyone should bring water and work gloves. Other items are optional depending on what sort of work you're doing. People might want to bring tools, a trash pick-up device for litter or pooper scooper (both tools available at hardware stores), work gloves and snacks.
If you have a favorite shovel or pick that you'd like to work with on the trails, please bring it along. We will have all these materials available, only a smile is required.
Well-supervised children are welcome but should not work with the trail rehabilitation group for safety reasons. Dogs are welcome but will need to stay leashed (except in our two off leash areas), and sometimes dogs can cause a distraction when working.
Folks can visit our website or contact me for more information. It would be nice if you could RSVP so we can plan our day more effectively. Tom Howes,President, Guardians of Palmer Parkguardiansofpalmerpark@comcast.net
