Tuesday, April 17th will see the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs induct its first four athletes into the newly instated athletics Hall of Fame.
The first class of inductees will include Trent Briney, Crystal Krebs, Greg Meyer, and Celia Slater.
Briney was a four-time cross country and track All-American when the program was first launched in 1996. He went on to compete professionally and has qualified for three Olympic Marathon Trials. He was an Olympic team alternate in 2004.
Krebs was a catcher for the Mountain Lion's softball team. An All-American, she earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors and went on to play professionally for Texas Thunder.
Meyer was a goal-keeper for the soccer team. He was the first-ever UCCS athlete to earn All-American honors.
Slater was the first women's head basketball coach for the Mountain Lions. She built the program from the ground up beginning in the 1989 season.
All are invited to attend the inaugural event. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. at the campus's Berger Hall. Tickets are available for $40 a person, proceeds will benefit UCCS athletics. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact Nate Gibson at ngibson@uccs.edu.
