Less weight = lessens the resistance gravity is exerting !!
  • Rob Lucas

Jeff, continuing to do it should make you faster as long as you don't over do it and beat your body down. I do it all winter.  Use Kahtoola microspikes, YakTrax or something similar if it's icy.  Some of my winter Manitou Incline photos are here.
  • Tim Bergsten

Yeah, I remember thinking I was having a great day on the Incline - climbing strong, but still exhausted - when Jill ripped past me like I was standing still. She was chattering away like it was no big deal. I went to work and told people about this skinny little mountain hippie girl who kicked my ass.
  • Jeff Gallup

Lol Tim...    Rob, the winter pics are great!  I have a feeling I'll be up there all winter too, so I'll look into some traction devices..

  • Cameron Chambers

Oh the fun of Winter Incline runs. I can't wait,
  • Jill Suarez

    Winters the Best !!
  • Dave Adair

Jeff, I've done it when it was 13 below, just to see if I could do it. I could, and I was the only one out there ..... go figure.

I have an admission to make. I am an addict. I've been addicted for 6 months. I can't get enough no matter how much I do it. It is the Incline. Today, 9-27-11 I did a Triple. I did 29:58, 38:09, and 39:55. Altogether ups and downs and breaks to get the rocks out etc it took about 3 hours and twenty minutes. Stupid or crazy? Addict.
  • Michael Capshaw

I also have to admit that after getting done I was excited to get home and post this on here. Since I've had a shower and time to clear my delirious head I realized that admission is not the word I was trying to say and I also have to admit that admition is not a word either, but when you've been up and down that much I think you have an excuse to say just about what ever you want. I'll probably be back up on Friday if anyone wants to join me.
  • Tim Bergsten

Michael, you are a sick, sick man..... kidding. But admitting you have a problem is half the battle. Keep on keeping on!
  • Michael Capshaw

Thanks Tim! My problem is turning me into quite the endurance athlete so I guess I'll just keep on keeping on as long as I'm able.
  • Dan Kurschner

I understand the addiction - have been doing the Incline twice a week - Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 5:30 for 3 years.  Posted a 28:15 in July at age 50.  Once in awhile will only do half and once a great while will do breakfast instead. Otherwise it's up to the top.

  • Jeff Gallup

Dan.. I probably ran into you this morning...  I usually start at 5 or so..
  • Jill Suarez

It's a time worthy healthy addiction ... Asked my dr if it was a " problem" said he wished he had more patients with this type of problem ... Keep plugging away on those ties ... I'm not stopping anytime soon..
  • Michael Capshaw

Dan that's awesome. Hopefully I'll see up there sometime.

    Group Incline Oct 6, 2011 at 4:50am

LeAnne, Susie, Warren, Kyle, and Dave

26:17 from frist tie.  Beautiful morning up the Incline and then got hit with a 50 mph wind at the top!  Of course Susie was chatting the whole way which we were okay with because at least the rest of us had a chance of keeping up.  Thanks gang!

  • Jeff Gallup

Great job David and group!  that's an awesome time..  I finally managed to set a new best time for myself, but at 47:12 :-).  And yes.. it was WINDY this AM.
  • Jill Suarez

  • Jill Suarez

25:35 and new to the altitude ...hey Troy do you run down the Incline or stick to barr trail..how much combined time is it ..to get back down?

  • Tim Bergsten

That's a smokin' time for a first crack at the Incline. You're going to fit right in.

  • Jeff Gallup

A bit icy still above the false summit for a stretch, but a great climb this morning.. especially since its been more than a week, and I was having withdrawals :-)

Troy:  I've been doing the Incline since 1997.  I've never come close to what you are doing today.  Great job!!
  • Jeff Gallup

Jeff I want a pair of those sandals..
  • Jeff Gallup

Jill.. they totally ROCK..  First minimalist type shoe I've tried.. as I was working towards barefoot, but I may just stay with these since they work so well, and eliminated all knee pain and back issues I had when I took up running.  No way you can heel strike.  Anyway, I have the 6MM Contacts.. which have performed great on the Barr Trail and Incline..  And they are on sale 25% off through next Monday...  click through on the Invisible Shoe link on my blog if you don't mind.. thanks! http://barefootinclined.blogspot.com/

  • Jeff Gallup

Forgot to mention, they are a great local company out of Boulder CO

  • Jeff Gallup

Finally, a new best time today. 45 min, which I know is slow, but 2 minutes faster than I've done it before..  Beautiful sunrise this AM  :-)

  • Nick Wilson

Came back to the springs for Christmas and gave the incline a run. Didnt bother timing it, just wanted to have fun and reflect on life

  • Jeff Gallup

It is definitely a great place to reflect :-)

  • Jill Suarez

The incline never seems to last long enough =) gotta say it's not about your time but the quality of the Experiance ..
  • Michael Capshaw

i'm guessing that as work is done on the incline for improvements that some times will drop. I'm excited to see improvements.

  • Jill Suarez

If times drop that makes more room for all the newbs!

Yesterday I did three sub 40 minute incline's and ran down Barr Trail for all of them. Great training for PPM.

  • Lynne Fonda

what are the female 65+ running? Incline only.

  • Michael Capshaw

New PR 28:32. My Oklahoma friend got here this morning and has only done the Incline about 5 times- all last summer. He did a 26:14!! Smokin.

  • Jill Suarez

Great work Michael x3 is fun and that's a great time!! I like the incline because it makes one a better climber on the steep trails ... And a better downhill runner as well.
  • Joe Grossi

Well I did the incline for the first time last week just 7 weeks after my open heart surgery aortic valve replacement and finished about 55 min.  Used to do it in under 35 min but I will get back there in time.

  • Tim Bergsten

Way to go, Joe! Inspirational story.
