Brandon had knocked out about 310 miles in six and a half days of hiking and easy running on his self-supported Colorado Trail adventure.<br /> He began the trip at about 5 a.m. on July 6 in Durango, Colo., and said he expected to finish the 485-mile hike on the afternoon of July 15, or the morning of July 16, at the mouth of Waterton Canyon in Littleton.<br /> He said the miles were a little lonely, but he physically felt good and was happy to have the toughest part of the trail behind him. His gear selection is minimal with no camp stove or tent. He has a sleeping pad and quilt, and is using a tarp to fashion a shelter with his hiking poles at night. He is surviving one regular trail snacks.
