They came to learn about trail closures and possible reroutes of trails in the Bear Creek Watershed, an area that contains miles of excellent cycling terrain. The U.S. Forest Service has closed much of the area while an environmental assessment is completed. The Forest Service must take action to protect a pure strain of the greenback cutthroat trout, Colorado's State fish, which lives in Bear Creek. Three plans are on the table for debate with "Alternative B" favored by the Forest Service and most trail users. Tim Scott explains the details of Alternative B at a meeting of the new Peak Mountain Bike Collective.
