Brandon Stapanowich has finished "The Stank," a 96-mile ultra run that included four round-trips to the 14,115-foot summit of Pikes Peak. It is the first known completion of a Pikes Peak quad since 1994. All told, he covered 96 miles, climbed 30,000 feet, endured freezing winds and icy conditions at 14,000 feet, slept in the Barr Camp bathroom, under a rock and at A-Frame, and completed it all in about 42 hours.

Kenyan-born Jared Abuya of Colorado Springs captured the top spot and $150 in prize money in Sunday's Double 5K. Abuya, running for Boulder Running Company/Adidas, Abuya clocked 14:57 in the first race on a course that was about 500 meters short. He finished in 16:30 in the seconds race.
Winners were determined by overall time. His BRC/Adidas teammate, Adam Rich, of Colorado Springs, was second with a combined time of 31:42. Rich won $100. Carl Arnold's 34:16 total was good for third place and $50.
In the women's race, Iowa resident Traci Kresser will have a cool story to tell her friends when she returns from her Colorado vacation. Kresser, 26, of Clive, Iowa, blasted the field in both races to take the top prize money. She finished with a combined 39:26. Kayli Tabares, 12, of Colorado Springs, was second in 41:41, followed by Caroline Ratterree, 23, Colorado Springs, in 42:26.

It was a fantastic morning in the Garden of the Gods as a group of runners in the Ponderous Posterior 50k rolled by. The race was the finale of the four-race Fat Ass Series, a loosely organized reason for trail runners to put in some miles and hang out with friends. Some of the top ultra runners in the country participated in the event, including Scott Jurek and Anton Krupika (they are not in this video), plus 12-time Pikes Peak Marathon champ Matt Carpenter.

A gang of locals get together each year to race their Pixies down the back side of High Drive to Gold Camp Rd and then on to Bott Park. They know they're a little crazy. Race literature reads as follows: Riding in this manner is not only dangerous but also stupid!!!!! This race is retarded at best and stupid to say the least! We don't encourage doing any of these races. If you aren't prepared to suffer the potential consequences (including even death) then you shouldn't race, plain and simple. If racing please know and ride with in your personal limits."
