Here is a good look at the start of the 2015 Sailin' Shoes 5K/10K in Colorado Springs. There was no lack of fast runners ripping up the flat downtown course. Andrew Lesser took the win in the 5K, clocking 15:26, followed by Patrick Rizzo and Dustin Emerick. Alexis Wilbert won the women's race with a time of 20:08. Taylor Sie was second, with Amanda Eubanks in third.
In the 10K race, Geofrey Terer of Colorado Springs clocked 32:52 for the won. Andy Rinne was second (35:21), with Brent Bailey finishing third.
Sarah Guhl defended her title in the 10K, dashing down Tejon St. to finish in 41:53. Halcy Driskell placed second with Honna Swanson close behind in third.

Sarah Guhl wins again at Sailin' Shoes 10K

Sarah Guhl charged to the win in the women's race at the Sailin' Shoes 10K on Saturday in Colorado Springs, covering the mostly flat road course in 42:55. It was her second-consecutive win at Sailin' Shoes. A Cheyenne Mountain High School graduate, Guhl is a senior at Baylor University and a member of the Bears' cross country team.

It was another great morning for running in Colorado Springs as about 350 runners sprinted down Tejon St. in the annual Sailin' Shoes 5K and 10K. Adam Rich, 33, a former Wasson High School track and cross country runner, won the men's 10K with a time of 32 minutes, 27 seconds. Emilio Trujillo (22, Colorado Springs) was second in 34:05, followed by Brent Bailey (27, Simla) in 35:38.
In the women's race, Sarah Guhl, a Cheyenne Mountain High School grad who is entering her senior year at Baylor University, took the win for the second-consecutive year. Guhl, 22, hit the finish in 42:55, followed by Sharon Jacob, 46, Colorado Springs, in 45:52, and Kacy Pittman, 35, Colorado Springs, in 45:54.
Geifry Tere, 37, Colorado Springs, won the men's 5K in 15:34. Matt Levassiur was second in 15:53, followed by Steve Chu, 31, Colorado Springs, in 16:08.
Olivia Long (28, Colorado Springs) captured the top spot in the women's race in 19:15. Amanda Ewing (33, Colorado Springs) who is training to run the Leadville 100, was second in 19:31, a stride ahead of the tough and fast 50-year-old Sheila Geere of Colorado Springs.

Scott Dahlberg wins the Sailin' Shoes 5K

Scott Dahlberg learned to run on the windy plains that surround his hometown of Peyton, Colo. But recently the 27-year-old Boulder Running Company runner has owned the streets of downtown Colorado Springs. On Saturday, Dahlberg claimed his second victory there in three months, sprinting to the win in the Sailin' Shoes 5K. Dahlberg clocked 15:06 on the mostly flat course that makes a circuit through central Colorado Springs. In March, he won the St. Patrick's Day 5K (15:11).
Austin Richmond, 27, finished second (15:32), followed by Brandon Johnson (24, 15:35.)

Baylor University junior Sarah Guhl talks about her win in the Sailin' Shoes 10K

Sarah Guhl, who helped lead the Cheyenne Mountain girls' cross country team to the 2011 state championship, won the Sailin' Shoes 10K on Saturday. Guhl is now a junior at Baylor University, competing in cross country and the steeplechase. She clocked 41:28.3 at Sailin' Shoes.
