Start of the Pony Express run at Rampart Reservoir

Runners emerged from the fog at the start of the Pony Express trail run on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at Rampart Reservoir. They headed off to the famous 15-mile singletrack trail that hugs the shoreline.
Justin Ricks, 33, Colorado Springs, took the win with a time of 1 hour, 35 minutes, 28 seconds. Teri Pitman, 32, Woodland Park, won the women's race in 2:17:25.
Jayne Sims, 52, Colorado Springs, finished second and set an age-group (50-54) record with a time of 2:17:25.

Fighting a trout and the camera at Elevenmile Reservoir

This isn't the typical PikesPeakSports.us video but I thought it was fun, so here you go. My little Nikon Coolpix didn't want to sit still while I fought a feisty trout through the ice at Elevenmile Reservoir. You can hear the fish ripping line off the reel. I was getting ready to leave when this guy hit and I set the hook. Two other fishermen stopped by and worked the camera for me at the end. I've caught 1,000 trout (probably more than that) over the years and I've let most of them go. This one, however, is now in my freezer.

The 'Men of Ice' take to Eleven Mile Reservoir

Colorado Springs cycling advocates Allen Beauchamp and Al Brody, Chris Murray from Bicycle Experience and Tim Bergsten of PikesPeakSports.us plowed through four inches of crunchy snow on the surface of Eleven Mile Reservoir on Jan. 16, 2012. Brody may have been the first cyclist to ride a bike on Eleven Mile. Rangers there said they could not recall seeing another bike on the ice. Beauchamp quickly arranged a group ride and the four riders hit the ice.
