Honoring Arlene Pieper's 1959 Pikes Peak Marathon finish

They dressed in white, like their hero, straight out of the 1950s. Arlene Pieper made history in 1959 when she became the first woman to officially finish a marathon. And she did that in arguably the most difficult marathon on the planet - the Pikes Peak Marathon.
Sixty years later, these ladies dressed in Arlene's style of the day and climbed Pikes Peak to remember the brave pioneer who took on the mountain, the altitude, the distance, and the men, to demonstrate what a woman could do.
