DESCRIPTION:The Colorado Springs Half Marathon is a loop course beginn
 ing & ending at Acacia Park in downtown Colorado Springs. The course w
 ill showcase the city of Colorado Springs taking runners on Wood, Casc
 ade, Plate Ave, through America the Beautiful Park, Monument Valley Pa
 rk, around Memorial Park, by the Olympic Training Center &through down
 town. A 5K run/walk is available for our shorter distance runners. Thi
 s family friendly inaugural race will attract national attention as a 
 premiere half marathon in Colorado.\n \nCourse - Half Marathon: Begin
 ning and ending in Acacia Park, the half marathon will head south on T
 ejon St, west on Colorado Ave and drop into America the Beautiful Park
 , head north on the Greenway Trail through Monument Valley Park. The G
 reenway Trail is approximately 10 feet wide, cement for the first mile
  and hard pack pea gravel for the last 2 miles. The route runs the len
 gth of Monument Valley Park and enters the Old North End neighborhood,
  winding along Wood Ave, down Cascade Ave, through Colorado College an
 d back into downtown. Racers will see family and friends again in Acac
 ia Park as they head east on Platte Ave. Racers will circle by the Oly
 mpic Training Center, into Monument Valley Park past the Velodrome, ar
 ound Prospect Lake, past the IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial and bac
 k on Platte Ave for a straight, fast finish into Acacia Park.\n \nCou
 rse - 5K: The 5K will start 30 minutes following the start of the half
  marathon. The 5K route is the same as the half marathon route for the
  first 2.3 miles. Soon after entering Monument Valley park 5K runners 
 will take a right off the trail and onto Monument Street. Monument Str
 eet will take runners up a short, uphill section onto Cascade Ave wher
 e they will merge with half marathon runners and end in Acacia Park. N
 ote, half marathon runners will continue running past Acacia Park for 
 the second half of their race. Even with a start time 30 minutes after
  the half marathon start, 5K runners should be back to Acacia Park in 
 time to cheer on family and friends while they finish their half marat

 rts/Medals: All participants will receive a technical t-shirt and meda
 ls for finishers. NOTE: if you sign up after Sep. 14th you will have t
 o pick up your shirt from a local running company between Oct. 7th-11t
