DESCRIPTION:Plan to participate in the inaugural Pikes Peak Road Ascen
 t, an 11.6-mile running race scheduled for Aug. 28.\nThe event that st
 arts at the Pikes Peak Toll Gate (7,750’) and climbs up to Glen Cove
  (11,425’) at an average grade of 5%-8%.\nClick here to register.\nT
 he race is a fully supported, competitive, timed event giving runners 
 the chance to experience a section of the Pikes Peak Highway which is 
 closed to automobiles the day of the event, with the exception of offi
 cial vehicles for the event and normal highway staff vehicles.\nThe ra
 ce will be held concurrently with the 2nd Annual Assault on the Peak, 
 a bike ride from Manitou Springs to the Summit of Pikes Peak. Since Pi
 kes Peak — America’s Mountain — is closed to bicycles and runner
 s/walkers on every other day of the year, this event is truly special 
 for any cyclist or runner wanting to test their mettle as well as thei
 r lung capacity!\nRunners will be shuttled back to the starting line. 
 The post event Party will begin at noon and will continue until 4:00 p
 .m. in Manitou Springs’ Memorial Park. The awards ceremony will be h
 eld at 2:00 p.m. as part of the celebration.\nThere is a cap of 600, s
