DESCRIPTION:Devil Mountain is “One Hell of a Run!” Quickly becomin
 g a legendary Fall classic this 50mile, 50k and ½ marathon run brings
  runners together for two days in the pristine forest of the South San
  Juan Mountains around Pagosa Springs. The climbs are great, topping o
 ut at just over 9,800' with more than 5,000' of vertical gain in the 5
 0k and 8,300' of gain in the 50 mile. Run it if you can! So besides bi
 g climbs and plenty of elevation there's spectacular fall foliage, the
  weather will be crisp and cool and the trails will be in prime condit
 ion! Expect a hell of a lot of single track through some of the region
 's old growth forests. Beautiful, remote and the perfect way to wrap u
 p the Ultra Season.\n\nThe ultra off-road course visits several mounta
 in areas to the west of Turkey Springs, Chris Mountain, Middle Mountai
 n, Horse Mountain and Devil Mountain. The terrain is nothing short of 
 spectacular. It's the perfect location for a fall run! Incredible view
 s, single-track and changing fall colors.\nThe 1/2 marathon course is 
 an \"out and back\", running to the final aid station and returning. I
 t offers plenty of single-track and technical terrain. We strongly rec
 ommend that you run with a camelback or water bottle!\n50k and 50mile 
 aid stations are fully stocked and located every six miles or so, but 
 we recommend that you run with a water bottle or camelback! It is dry 
 here and can be warm. 50 mile runners: The section from the 50/50 spli
 t, aid station #4 at mile 23.5 to aid station #5 at mile 31.9 is remot
 e, rugged and 8 miles long! Carry two bottles at least and or a full c
 amelback. This section is extremely beautiful and extremely remote....
  You will most likely be alone for very long stretches and should plan
  accordingly.\nEven more popular is the bonfire party at the finish li
 ne and pancake awards breakfast which combine to make this an authenti
 c mountain ultra. You get to connect with others in the running commun
 ity and allow friends and family to be involved in the awards and fini
